PROJECTS ABROAD
We offer a fantastic Arts & Crafts placement in Tlaquepaque, Mexico, where volunteers can work alongside local artisans to learn ancient craft making techniques. In coordination with the Cultural Center of Tlaquepaque and the collaboration of many artisans, our Arts & Crafts Project is an excellent opportunity to volunteer abroad for anyone with an interest or talent in this area.
As a volunteer, you have the chance to be trained in some of the methods used to create artisan products. You will primarily be learning the techniques of ceramic making and decoration. Be ready to mix clay, use ovens, and create molds for the future use of artists and other volunteers. The crafts you can make range from, but are not limited to, bowls, water jugs, and wall tiles that you can personalize for your friends and family back home! Here’s a link for more information. http://www.projects-abroad.org/projects/culture-and-community/arts-and-crafts/
We also offer a really great drama program in Romania. Our volunteers lead workshops, coach drama groups, and learn techniques to teach English through drama. Volunteers have the opportunity to meet and work with professionals from the local theatre community. This may involve workshops, discussions, collaborative performances or presentations or even assisting with a current production. There is also potential to see performances by these companies depending on the season.
